Can someone tell me how to get a goood ass low end bass sound with good click sorta mudvayne sound. My bass player is bad ass and he needs to be heard. And also i know that you need to make the bass drum less clicky to match the slap bass so it sounds "PHAT" I use the art studio mp pre amp and set it on bass. Also his processor is some zoom pedal he paid 100 bucks for.It sounds good coming from the amp but not as punchy direct.I heard direct is the way to go for bass. Thanks hit me up

Mic that sucker if you like the amp sound. I like a Sennheiser md421 best for a round, punchy sound. The important thing with that mic is to give it some distance from the cabinet (anywhere from a foot to five feet). Try a splitter and blend the direct and miced sounds together.

The Mudvayne bassist uses a LOT of compression (via a DBX 160A) to get his tone. Plus he has a very percussive fingerstyle technique where he almost slams his fingers down on the string rather than playing "upstrokes."

Hope that helps.

hugh makes an extremely important point-no matter what equipment you have, the way you play it makes a difference.

my bass player

Yeah good shot on the bass tip.I think i will use the akg i got for bass and bass drums. The splitter sounds like a good idiea so i will definately do it. I am so sure he can get that sound because he is bad ass and knows how to play almost as good as mudvaynes bassist. The tone is pretty close coming from the cabnet.Thanx alot.
