Hey all,

Newbie here. What does everyone use for Bass and Drum loops or what could you recommend in my situation. I am a guitar player and vocalist doing my own digital recording. I do not have and sequencing/synth equipment, just a Boss BR1180CD hard disk recorder/mixer that I record directly into. I do a mix of covers and originals and the style is straight up rock, alt rock, etc. Looking for something that is easy to use, that gives a great sound. What is everyone else here using? I have downloaded and tried a few virtual drum machine programs, but they seem either to complicated relying on midi, etc. or sounded too techno/dance. Is there a software solution, or do I need to invest in a keyboard/sequencer/synth combo. I really do not use any keyboards in my stuff and not sure how I would use one to do Bass/Drum sounds anyways. Any suggestions?

Steve

i have one easy solution for you. Learn MIDI!! short of learning the instruments themselves, or buying a very costly keyboard, MIDI is the best solution, plus so many people are using it, it's become the recording norm. if you have a PC i'd suggest cakewalk sonar 3. if not, invest in 1. i promise you it's worth it.

loops?

I'm doing about the same thing. For drum loops I use Drums on Demand and other drum loop cd's. Ive had pretty good success with these. You just put in the disk and browse them from your recording software, and go. For bass, I think you might want to just buy a cheap bass and do it yourself.
Just my opinion.
