The other day I was playing and I fried my bass amp. :( So, im in the market. Im looking for preferably a 2x10 combo with a tweeter in it. Behringer is coming out with one like this mid-year. My price range is about 500$ (can be bent some) any suggestions would be great.

Thanks. Im gonna go to GC and see if they have one to try out.

This is a little old school, but when I think bass, I think Ampeg.

Post deleted - wrong thread. Sorry

Our bassist went from a $350 crate combo amp, to a Hartke head and 2x12 cab.... couldn't be happier!

;)

Whats wrong with old school? It's a classic for a reason.

It sounds like you're looking for a combo, but the SVT heads into a 15" cabinet sounds real good. Throw an 8 x 10" in there with the right bass and it'll sound freakin' sweet, IMHO.

I have had guys come in here with an Ampeg combo and it kicked ass.

I might have something you'd be interested in.

It's a Randall Road Warriar RB1000 Head (500 Watt - but I always read it was 300 Watt - says 500 watts on the back) and a Randall Road Warrior RW 210 cab. I'm not much of a bass guy (I traded a nice acoustic for a bass and this amp set-up), and I never use the amp at all. I'm not really sure what it's worth, but I'll let it go for $450. I've seen the head alone go for around $300 used in bad shape.

I can send you pics or whatever you need.

I'll send you a PM, too.

I like the tone of a Gallien-Krueger, myself. Their Backline combos are pretty sweet, and in the -$500 price range...

If everthing is in good shape, that's a good deal!

How good of a deal is it? Like I said, I'm no bass guy, so I don't really have any idea what its worth. If I under-priced it, its all yours. If its overpriced, make me an offer (though I get the feeling its not over-priced). Everything is in perfect condition. The guy who owned it before me is a very good friend and he hardly played it - never gigged with it at all. Most of its life it has sat in a corner not even plugged in. I've played it about 2 times in the 2 years I've had it.

I'm posting this up in the for sale section of this site. . .

Found out I owe on my taxes instead of getting a return. I need some extra cash.

Find a used SWR Redhead.
+1

With some hard shopping, you might be able to get a decent used one in that price range, and it's a formidable amp.

The Pro Series SWR stuff is very high-quality in terms of components and construction. I've been quite impressed when going through it on the bench.

I have a 2004 Black Beauty, which (although it does not appear to be at first glance) is essentially the same amp as the Redhead, but with a 1x15" & horn configuration instead of a 2x10" & horn.

These are basically the 350X Pro head with the controls moved around a bit inside a larger chassis, added to either a 2x10" Goliath III Jr. or a 1x15" Son of Bertha cab.
