I'm using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, and I'm simply trying to record a track(vocals on track 2) while playing back another track (guitar on track 1), without track two picking up guitar and vocals. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or need to do? I'd imagine this can be easily corrected.

I've done it in the past, but must have changed a setting because I can't get track two to just record vocals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm... The nature of a microphone is to pick up sound in the room you are recording in. So if you're not using headphones instead of speakers, the microphone will pick up the sound from the speakers... Use headphones when recording vocals, and you're set!

Or, your sound card is set to record "What U Hear" rather than just from the line in.

If you are using an external mixer to come into the soundcard, that's another possible source of this behavior, if you have the sound coming out of the card looping back into the signal going into the card.

moskus, yeah, I am using a headset...I can figure so much as that.

I'll check my soundcard to make sure it is set to line in. Thanks
