Hey Everyone,
I have finally purchased some decent equipment for my small bedroom "studio". I can get nice clean sounding tracks and lay them all out in Cakewalk, but then I'm stuck, I don't really know what to do next. All of my songs sound good but not great like a lot of commercial CDs i listen to. When I mix the song, I don't really know what I am doing, I'll just add some reverb here, some compression here, pan this, pan that, etc, etc. My band's music is somewhat similar to Incubus, but it doesn't have that full and heavy sound we are aiming for.
Is there some book or website that will get me going in the right direction? I know everyone says you just have to use your ears, but is there a book or something that has just some basic techniques in it to get me headed somewhere?
Thanks,
Scott
