Sorry if I posted this twice,

I recently purchased a Mac G4. I intend on recording...

Bass - direct
Guitar - miked
Drums - (Roland TD-7 electric drum kit)
Keys - midi/direct
Vox - elsewhere/ruffs at home for convenience
(everything tracked separately)

My question is...What soundcard do I need ?

Money is an issue.

Yeah .... a 44 will work seeing as how you intend to track everything separately.
Meaning that you will only ever record, at most, four tracks simultaneously at any given time.

Thanks for the advice. I was afraid I needed something out of my price range.

Just keep in mind, with the 44, you only have 1/4" inputs. So to record anything balanced or using a condensor mic, you will need a preamp, or at least some form of DI. A Behringer Multicom XL would work well for this, and provides compression/limiting/gating as well for all four channels.

Gavin, what's your budget? What software are you using?

whoa, hold up. a multicom will not provide any form of preamp. its simply compression. either get a soundcard with an integrated preamp, phantom power is usually necessary for condensers. if not, get a card like the delta and maybe something such as an m-audio audio buddy, dmp-3, studio projects vtb1, an fmr audio Really Nice Preamp for a little more green, or even a little yamaha mixer. i'd deffinately stay away from usb (pretty slow, do a search), stick to either pci or firewire.
