Hey-
I am going to purchase a laptop in the near future and am aware that laptops, in general, do not come standard with an audio input (save for a crappy mic input.) I'm recording into Cakewalk Music Creator and don't need pristine sound quality so I'm just looking for something equivalent to the stereo line in on a cheap desktop sound card, in USB form. What would I get?

Hey, Cap'n.

I recorded this song with a Tascam US122. I really like it.

I didn't have any USB problems, but others have.

PS Please leave your comments about the song. Thanks!

Echo Indigo IO - $179.

my toshiba lap top came standard with a yamaha sound card. It definately can handle basic recording, it has a line in and a mic in. i've recorded some decent stuff with it, you would need a preamp though. It definately kicks the crap out of a sound blaster for recording.

The Edirol UA-1X is also an option. I have their MIDI device and it works great.
