Band name stuff

what do ya'll think of those solo projects that use band names? is there a reason
one would opt to create a fake band instead of using his or her real name? how much does that approach effect how people perceive the music? just wondering.

I'm doing that, I'm done with my old group, not only am I using a "band name", but I'm using a pseudonym as well... perception is everything and if your band name sounds cool and goes with the music, then it will only enhance it.
