easy question here.

does using unbalanced cables with balanced inputs and outputs decrease your signal? i.e., do the balanced sends divide the signal in half, meaning only half of the signal is going through an unbalanced cable?

i think the answer is yes.

cuz the balanced cable has a positive, negative and a sheild and the unbalanced only has a shield and signal so one of the signals either + or - is being lost.

i think.
(correct me if im wrong)

Yes you do loose signal. When the out of phase side of the balanced signal is flipped and added to the other side, they add together and increase the signal. If you use an unbalanced cable, the out of phase side is sent to ground and adds nothing.

DAMNIT!

I think that answers a lot of questions about why my signals dont match up half the time!!!!!
