Hi.
I have been recording using an Audiophile 2496 soundcard (unbalanced RCA inputs). The signal has been coming direct from my DMP3 preamp (balanced TRS 1/4" outputs). I have just been using a cable that has a 1/4" jack and one end and an RCA jack at the other end. No problems.
Now, however, I just bought an FMR Audio Really Nice Compressor. I want to put this in the signal chain between the DMP3 and the Audiophile. The compressor manual states it won't work if I connect a balanced cable to the IN jack--it is designed to work with an unbalanced signal.
Sooo... do I just need to get an unbalanced TS 1/4" cable to run from the preamp to the compressor, and use my old cable to take the compressor output to the soundcard input? Or is there more to it than this?
