Balanced input / signal

Hi, noob question here:
if the only balanced input on my multitrack (Tascam DP02) is an XLR connection (i.e. doesn't have a 1/4" TRS balanced input), am I okay to connect the balanced signal from my POD (2.0) to the Tascam XLR? (I'm just trying to keep the signal balanced, but the Tascam manual says the XLR input is for mics.
 
Shouldn't be a problem, but make sure if the XLR input is a preamp input, you have the 48 volt phantom power switched off.
 
just thought I'd give a bit of feedback after running the TRS output of the POD 2.0 into the Tascam DP02 via XLR. Basically... WOW! What a Difference! So much louder, clearer signal. Next to zero noise. Had to solder up my own cable from 2 cables I already owned (no music gear retailers around here sell TRS to make XLR cables and didn;t want to wait for delivery from a net supplier). But well worth the little effort. I did a direct sound comparison by recording the same guitar track back to back. Blanaced was WAY superior.
 
yeah, that works fine.

xlr is just the general connections mics use, that doesnt mean that xlr cables can ONLY be used for mics.
both trs and xlr can be used for balanced connections, it doesnt matter which you chose.
and always remember that in order to achieve a balanced connection you must have balanced gear -> balanced cable -> balanced gear. anything else wont be balanced.
 
you'll need to be VeryCareful to not over load the input of your tascam... so run the output of the pod real low to start out and make changes very slowly (meaning no bog jumps) there;s a real chance of toasting the input...
