What's Soooo Bad About It?
Because it's a silly rap/pop tune? Yes. Commercial? Very. Recorded well? Obvie. Made them millions of dollars? You bet!
It's no worse than Queen's "We Will Rock You" or "We Are the Champions."
I say a good song is one where all elements come together and mesh successfully as a whole. It could be Martina McBride, Kid Rock, Baha Men, Madonna, Dead Kennedys, the list goes on and on.....btw, ever hear of Tom Kelly & Billy Steinberg? You know what tunes they wrote? Betcha!

If I'm not mistaken ( and I may be ). They got the effect with an auto-tune plug-in. ( like the Cher song and that god-awful Kid Rock song ) Purposefully pitching it up and down with the auto-tuner. Are we talking about the same effect?

Probably when it's all said and done.
The effect I'm talking baout is on the dance mix version. It's at the end of each line, verse 1 & 2. A warbling, stucatto-like effect. Goes well with the "telephone" vocal.
