I was thinking of getting this because of the convenience of all in one but I'm worried about not having a high pass "filter." I'm only going to be using it for vocals. I thought maybe I don't need this filter because I'll be hooking it up to either my Zed12FX mixer or the Presonus AudioBox 1818vsl which both have high pass filters. So will it be ok you think? I know there are other models with EQ and a filter but price is out of my budget, hence why I chose the DMP.

Come on guys...anybody? Doesnt have to be this Bae...just any brick style preamp like the isa one and the Daking....will hooking these up to an audio interface and using the high pass filter have the same result??

I suppose different HPFs could sound different depending how steep the roll off is but I don't think I've ever had a favourite!
Keeping it simple, yes. Using a HPF on preamp will have the same result as using it in your Presonus or in your software.

Is it for recording use? Just record the full signal and HPF in the DAW?

Obviously, if you do that, put the HPF before any compression or anything like that. :)

As Steen stated, if you're going to use it with a DAW, I don't why you would want/need an HPF at the source. I understand the old analog days when Post processing was a pain, but not in today's world.

Thankyou guys, for ur valuable inputs. I'm just overdubing covers via DAW.

Cool. Software all the way then.
The only read advantage, that I can think of, to hardware LPF would be in a live-sound environment.

Still, in a live environment, when u hook it up a mixer, there should be a high pass filter switch, right?

Yes, indeed. That'd be a pretty common feature.
I guess you wouldn't usually bother without board preamps in a live setting, all the same, but I don't have much experience there.
