i dont think its NECESSARY...but i never really tried not doing it....those files take up very little space so theres no reason to NOT do it......

Gidge,

Yeah you are right! But those pesky little devils turn up in the strangest places sometimes. I'm sure I'll miss some.

The .npk files are the peak files that N-Track uses to draw the wave form on the screen. Whenever N-Track opens a wav file (suppose it's c:\music\vocals.wav), it automatically looks for c:\music\vocals.npk. If the file is there, it uses it to draw the waveform. If it is not there, it generates it for you so next time it won't have to generate it again. So saving off the .npk files will save you a bit of time next time you open that project/song. This could be helpful if you have many tracks as I can see N-Track taking awhile to generate the .npk files for a 20-track song.

gordone,

Thanks for setting me straight on the npk. files. I've already backed them up but at least I know not to bother using them. Though It may take time to regenerate these files in a multitrack song if I'm having to retrieve data from my backup CD's we are probably talking "major crash" and it's gonna take some time either way... for me at least.

Thanks again,

Rusty K
