Ooo... one of my Satch favorites. Ambitious tune to pick. I often look to this tune as a recipe for the up-beat guitar rock instrumental and the sound I most identify with him, though he has many others as well.
If I may ask, what were your goals with this one? From what I can gather, you tried to say pretty true to the original. The tempo is the same however something is lost in the feel. It lacks the drive of the original. The playing needs to be more foward on the beat perhaps. I see you did gave the solo section your own touch, which is, understandably, tamer then the original.

As much as I enjoy Satriani's blistering solo of the original, I feel your take demonstrates some musical sensibilities and structure. I wonder what people who haven't heard the original would think. You did a pretty good job getting some special effects in there. I find this aspect difficult, and if I manage it, it's by accident. I must say, I missed the wah pedal.
Given your like for this stuff, have you done any original material in this genera? If you have, I'd like to hear some.
When I bought my first digital recorder, the first song I did was a Satch ripoff, Crybaby and all. Being a bass/guitar player and years of digesting Flying in a Blue Dream, it was the first thing that came to mind. Since it is pretty clear you like this kinda stuff, check it out
here. (Note: this link is NOT intended to hijack the thread.).
I was pleased to hear this song covered and to hear from other members that like this kinda stuff.
