How can i get a good 808 bass sound out of my speakers?

i have event P5's

my signal chain is:
mpc > mixer > motu mkII soundcard

now i get that sound i want in the headphones but when the headphones come off the BOOOOOM goes away!

stuff that i have recorded with this sound is not even audible in the car, on the computer, on the stereo, or even on my son's radio--- but in the headphones BOOOOOM!

thanks in advance!

It just shows you that you can't mix on headphones.
Obviously your headphones have a hyped low end.

thanks for the reply but how can i get that sound that im looking for?

is it my speakers, the sound itself, or is it something that im doing ? if so what?

all advice is welcome

thanks in advance!

It has to do with how you monitor. You have to "learn" your monitors. How they translate to other systems. Headphones are VERY poor at this. Play tons of commercially released CDs in the style of music you're donig to "learn" how your system resolves bass and all instruments/voices in general.

thanks for the reply track rat

i was thinking that is was my signal chain

but i'll sample some bass from - LL's "goin back to cali" and try it out - thanks again!

It also could be the accoustics of the room you are mixing in. Try to find some posts on bass traps on this forum and see if that doesn't help.

thanks for the response jay

i sampled some bass from an ole steady B album and it sounds good through my speakers so im gonna keep looking for some different sounds

but thanks for the reply
