does anyone have any experience with the SP B1 for raps? any better suggestions for a real budget mic?

I'm not a rapper, but I had a pair of B1's, which I loved. For rap though, they might not be the right thing. They're kinda flat and need some EQ to get that forward sound. You might look into the AT 4040 (it's a bit more $, but you probably could find a used one at the same price as a B1). Also, the Rode NT1A is definitely brighter than the B1 and has the lowest self-noise out there. (To my ear, though, it's a little too bright).

Not a fan of the B1. I have used the C1, and surprisingly, it's quite a warm mic for Hip-Hop vocals.

Nope!

Its actually really warm*this coming from actually owning one*
I recommend it to anyone

MXL V67G,

I own one of these and I really like it. Allthough I've got no other large capsual mics to compare it with.
