Did you raise your volume on your track/channels at the point of the clipping/distortion in order to get a more dynamic range to your music? Go back and check it out. It's common to raise levels a bit for effect (like during a chorus/instrumental). But if it goes "in the red" at that point, it will clip/distort when you record right at that spot. If so, lower the overall tracks to begin with to give you more headroom for when you raise those parts so nothing goes over the threshhold.
