Hi All,

I'm completely new to midi set ups and I'm after some help. Firstly, I've been using the aw4416 for about 8 years and I love every aspect of it. I've recently purchased a very good laptop as I've seen the capabilities of DAW. I've also just got Sonar 8. Please note I am old school and completely new to midi and Sonar. I've been reading a lot of stuff relating to linking the aw4416 to sonar enabling you to control sonar through the aw4416 and people are currently doing this. However, I cannot find any decent step by step guidelines anywhere on how this is done. I have also read that other people seen to be using the aw4416, motif (whatever that is) and sonar and transferring all data from the 4416 to sonar without having to burn wavs and import into sonar.

My proposal for someone is I will pay you if you can put together a complete dummies guide, and I mean dummies guide including photos and step by step guidelines on how to do the following:

Control Sonar with the AW4416, ie, faders, pan, eq etc

and

A description and guidelines of AW4416 with MOTIF and Sonar, what it is and how it all works. What I need to purchase etc.

Unfortunately I'm not getting anywhere on my own and I really do not have the spare time to study this at present. I feel the only way I can do this is to pay someone to design a specific guideline pack for me. I personally think there are a lot of people out there including me or are dedicated aw4416 users who can benefit from this.

If you can help please let me know and we can sort out a payment.

Kind regards
Craig.

Good luck Craig.

I'm one of the very few AW4416 users on this forum and I have no experience with Sonar, so I can't help you.

You say you know people are doing this.... where have you got this info? I haven't looked at the back of my desk lately, but as the AW4416 predates USB, then I'd be surprised that it's capable of being much of a control surface.

I use a DAW too for some things, mainly assembling MIDI drums, and I just use AW Extract to decode the backup CDs and then import the wav files into Reaper... but I do final mixing back in the AW.... that at least is easier than doing it track at a time. Let me know if you're not across that little trick, at least.

Cheers

A dummies guide like that will cost you a bundle but will be worth it.

And yet another AW4416 thread disappears off the page without any acknowledgement that the OP even read what anyone wrote... about the fourth in the last fortnight

Fuck me, I'm on strike as far as the AW4416 is concerned from now on..

You can all work it out yourselves.... :laughings:

Not, OP, that I could help you anyway! :laughings:

I can't find the power switch on mine!

Best way to turn them off Henry is to pick the unit up and drop it on a hard surface, in my experience.... :laughings:

I'll look forward to your post about how to turn it back on again... :D
