Hi- I am a Logic user and was wondering if the Avid Eleven Rack does basically the same thing as Logic's Amp Designer. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Are you asking about the phyisical 11 rack, or the plugin software?
Amp Designer is software only, right?

Hi Sam,
I am referring to the physical hardware rack. Amp Designer is a plugin that comes with Logic.
Thanks.

I have the Eleven Rack hardware, and I like it a lot. I haven't dealt with Amp Designer so of that I have no opinion.

What I can say is that with the Eleven Rack you can use it without your computer, and go take it out on a gig. While it is a single channel USB interface, you can make use of not only the guitar input, but the phantom powered (switchable) mic preamp, and the stereo line inputs (keyboard/E-drums). So it offers a bit more than simple software. Besides it's now only $700 as opposed to the $1,000 I spent on it a few years back. It also comes packaged with Pro Tools for the same price as buying PT10 by itself. I don't know if that bit does anything for you but, hey why not right?

Like any effects processor, you have to fiddle with it no matter how good the presets may be, to get truly great sounds out of it.

I don't know if this helps but ..... :thumbs up:
