automation won't work in sonar?

hi everybody... i'm doing a mix in sonar and i can't seem to be able to use the automation at all. i draw in a volume envelope, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the sound at all either in offset mode or out of offset mode. it's almost as if the envelope isn't there at all.

i can't figure out what i'm doing wrong? any tips?

What version of Sonar and is it patched to the latest patch?

Did you verify that automation playback was enabled?
