Can someone direct me to an easy instruction on how i can apply a filter to a piece of music where over time the filter frequency rises or falls. Most music uses this effect these days and id really like to know how its done if possible with SONAR 2.0XL... Ive read the tutorials but they mainly touch on using soft synths or samplers in DXi.
Anyone with a helpful comment would bring me such happiness... :p

You have to use an "automatable effect" using track FX envelopes.

Sonar comes with several automatable effects (the ones preceded by Fx, such as FxReverb or FxEq).

Patch the effect onto the Track, and then right click on the wave form and select Envelopes > Create Track Envelope > FxEq (or whatever effect you have patched). You will then get a menu with checkboxes asking which parameter(s) you want to automate. After making your selections you will get an envelope on the Track for each parameter you selected.

From there it works like any other envelope.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for but....

Load FXeq into the fx bin in the track you're working with

Right click thr track pane and choose envelopes

Choose FXeq and the desired parameter

Go nuts!

You can create multiple envelopes

The advantage of envelopes is the visual aspect that is very intuitive.

GOOD LUCK!

cant wait to try it out.
