In other programs I have used I could figure out how to do a mix so different tracks would come up or down, or the song would fade at the end, but have it automated. When I was recording to tape I could just manually fade out, but now with CD I can not do that.

What is it called in Cakewalk so I can look up how to do this?

thanks

Track Automation. Although I don't recall in PA9 whenther you can automate the Main Fader (which is what you would want for a fade out).

I guess, in theory, you could put identical volume envelopes on each track, and fade them simultaneously. A bit tedious, but it should work.

In Sonar, you could do it by putting a volume envelope on the V-Main. The Mains are automatable in Sonar.

rather than an envelope I find that the draw line feature in the track view works good for fadeouts and ins.
the button just has a slash on it (/), but it is an edit not automation.

Yes it is.... if you close the program or save it. Simple solution save the track before you do it. If your really worried export it as a wave file to your desk top. then you can insert it into the song later with out loosing any other edits you may have made. As long as you keep the program open you can use the undo function.

The nice thing is you can make a nice even fade to zero regardless of the signal level you are starting with.
