hello all,
sorry if i'm stepping over any previous thread's toes but I'd like to know which would be better for my application. I have a set of drum mics (sm57's for toms and audix f15's for overheads) and would like to know which would work better for a guitar cabinet. I'm mostly playing metal, so lots of distortion, out of a mesa 4x12 cab. The head (randall switchmaster 120 watts) sucks pretty bad so i might end up using my epiphone firefly (1x10 eminence ramrod speaker, combo amp - 30 watts) which sounds much cleaner if you ask me, or if that makes any difference at all... Also, what are your preferred methods of miking (i.e. distance, angle, etc.. i'm in a makeshift studio in my basement with some pretty weak damping so i'd imagine the closer the better)
any input would be greatly appreciated!
