Auditions for 'Les Mis'!!! I'm so excited.

I do these things because I love to do them. Some kids like to play in the back yard. I like to play piano and sing. Modeling is something I've been doing since I was 3 because my dads friend is the president of the Atlanta Photographic Society and he loves to use me as a model and we work well together.

I have been in gymnastics and martial arts all my life because my dad owns the Opera House Family Center that offers all kinds of lessons but my focus is music.

Even though my mom is a great artist ( Art by Ling Portraits, reproduction, oil painting, oil pastel, graphite ) she never did more than introduce me to art. She has always supported my music.

I think I do all those things because it's Broadway musicals that I like.

When I was 12 I was such a dweeb. The love of my life was football but I was a regular dweeb 12 year old, stealing, wearing fashionable shoes and Dr Marten boots, listening to pop charts and the Jackson 5, skiving school by pretending to be ill........
I was 12 when my Dad gave me a cassette recorder and afterwards life was never the same. I was also 12 when I started learning to play the cello (it clashed with French so I thought I'd escape French homework but alas, my French teacher had other ideas) and when I bought my first watch having destroyed many others that I hadn't bought.
Funnilly enough, I'm still a cassette man, still love the cello and I'm never without a watch.
 
So, where's this stand? You get the part?

My grand-niece is pursuing the stage, too- I don't totally approve, as I see my mother and sister (who is the child's guardian) playing stage mother, but I try to support the child when I can. I owe her a phone call, gonna make it before the weekend is out... Thanks for reminding me of what is most important.
 
It's all driven by the "American Idol", "America's Got Talent" mentalities....everyone wants to be a "star".

Trouble is...even if you got some talent, only a very small percentage actually gets through the door to become a "star"...
...but a lot of parents seem to think that by starting kids real young in as many "fame-driven" career goals as possible, they somehow increase their kid's chances of becoming a "star".
It's the same logic people use when buying $100 worth of lottery tickets instead of $5...they feel they are increasing their chances of winning. ;)

I got an email from the people running the show and they cannot change their guidelines so I cannot try out.
Well, time to look for another play/musical to try out for.

Awww bummer. Sorry about that! Although I'm sure, with your talent, you'll be able to find other opportunities easily! Never give up!
 
And it surely isn't time to give up!!

I've got an audition with a big Talent agent tomorrow!!! I won't be able to sleep tonight.
