Hey!

I jave just bought a new PC with a Audiowerk 2 Souncard and with a Matsonic VIA Apollo Kt133 mainboard.
The mainboard have built in soundcard but i have disabled it. Im running Windows Millennium.
My problem is that when i play any sounds from any music program or anyother windows sounds
there is no sound coming. I have connected my mixer to ANALOG IN's of Audiowerk 2 and to my amplifier
from ANALOG OUT's. But there is no sound coming to my computer when i play on my synths.
Does Audiowerk 2 not support Win ME? Where can i download the latest drivers? Is it not compatible
with my mainboard?

Please help me

hi toka

If you have checked out this forum you might have faced threads about compatibility problems with AMD and certain soundcards. The problem is not in all cases in via kt133 chipset but mainly in compatibility.

you might want to consult audiowerk support about the problem

If you need mmore help you let us know a bit more about your setup....

AW2

I use an AW2.

There are problems with the athlon mbs but this doesnt sound like your problem. Problems with these boards tend to be associated with crackles and latency.

AW2 is a soundcard made for emagic programs and probably wont work with most other apps or music programs.

Firstly, is the card installed? Have you gone into control panel and used the cd to load the driver for it? ME does try and do it all by itself these days, but it doesnt know what the AW2 is.

Also if you are using Logic Audio (any version, composer came bundled with the AW2) then select the Audiowerk option in the recording options settings... you dont need any drivers for this!

Then start up the program and away you go... if you've already done this, then it will be a routing thing.. what is your setup?

Also, If you wanna try the AW2 with windows and other recording software, then install all the windows and asio drivers that are on the cd... it has a setup program on the cd that does this.

I found the AW2 to work a bit in windows and some other programs, but then got fed up with error messages so i added a cheap second soundcard - just for mp3's and windows....

hope this helps

via and souncards

Hey!

1. Does anyone know if Audiowerk 2 works good with cubase 5?

2. Why are mainboards with VIA chips so bad for music? Many warn for those boards that the soundcards are not compatible. How can you see that if you buy a card?

3. Is there any drivers that fix the problems between soundcards and VIA chip?

AW2

1.
AW2 is made by Emagic.
Logic Audio is made by Emagic.

Therefore AW2's best application is Logic Audio. When it uses logic audio it requires no drivers as logic wth AW support direct i/o.

If you want to try Cubase then you'll have to install the MME / ASIO drivers... which more often than not will work... but AFAIK Emagic does not directly support Cubase.

2.
Basically the only "for-certain" way to tell if a board won't work with your setup is to actually try it. There are too many variables to take into account. Also, you may find a VIA chipset to work fine for you.. it just depends on the comprutas mind at the time... There may be actual "IT" evidence that prove the VIA to be bad but I am unaware of this.

3.
No.
You can update the bios etc. but I dont use a driver for my AW2 at all, so adding a driver would be pointless.

PS: I recommend using Logic if you wanna use an AW2. If you prefer Cubase, then buy a different soundcard!

via and audiowerk 2

I mailed Emagic support and they recommended me to get ASUS A7V133 mainboard. They have tested it and it works without any problems with Audiowerk 2. So im gonna change mainboard now.
