People are talking about this product all over the forum, recommending it and such, but as far as I can tell its not even available yet. I've decided I'd really like it but I cant figure out how to get it and I need it as soon as possible. Is there another product that is similar (stereo mic preamps) and available today at a simliar price? Thank you!

Its available, but the PC drivers may/may not be out yet....they were supposed to be released this month.......

Do you know of any places where I can find it? I'm in a bit of a hurry- the 25th (when musiciansfriend.com gets them) is really too late. Thanks-

Considering how much of a flop the Audiosport Quattro has been, why would you even consider this?

I've seen a dozen posts here and on other forums where people are downright pissed off with Midiman/M-Audio. More often than not, people can't even get the Quattro working.

well...

I need a way to record live audio with a sony ecm909 microphone onto the computer at reasonable quality and price. I dont want to buy an expensive sound card and then another expensive pair of mic preamps- the duo has everything I need at higher quality than I even need at a good price. If it is as bad as the quattro, then I wont buy it, but I need a suggestion of another comperable product. Can you recomend another solution that is not more expensive than the duo? I'm still not convinced that the duo is all that bad anyway- the quattro is a completely different product- but I still dont know where to buy it. Thanks for any information-

My recommmendation would be to completely stay away from USB devices for the time being (if you have that option). USB just cannot handle the amount of data bandwidth required for digital audio recording.

What kind of computer/OS are you using?

computer

I am running a:
Compaq Presario 7006US
1.7 Ghz
128 mb RAM
80 GIG

I only need those 2 channels, and not even at the high quality the duo is capable of, so I'm not so worried about the bandwith. USB also appeals to me because I would like to be able to record onto multiple computers (laptops, too) without dealing with sound cards, etc. Again, I am open to other suggestions of comparable products, but I have not heard of any so far. Again, ALL i need is a sterio set of reasonable mic preamps at a reasonable price. Am I still right that the duo is not yet available or could someone prove me wrong? Again, I hear about it all over this forum but no one has mentioned where it is available. (Its NOT available at musiciansfriend.com, at least not till too late for me.) Thank you very much for all your input!

The M-Audio Delta 44 lists for $229 on Musiciansfriend.com (Duo lists for $259).

If you're not concerned about 24bit audio, I would look at something from Turtle Beach like the Santa Cruz card for $69 and pick up an Audio Buddy Mic Preamp for around $99
