audiophile monitor mixer

alright...this is my first post here, and guess i really appreciate a place like this where you can come in and share knowlege and receive it. Well, i've got somewhat of a problem and i'll give whoever helps me a pound...i have a audiophile 2496 and have a problem with my monitor mixer, it has no control whatsoever over my soundlevels, whether recording from the mic, playing records through the computer or playing wave files. I'm thinking there is something i need to turn on somewhere or something. i apologize if this is an idiotic question but appreciate any advice i can get...thanks in advance...

Are you using a software program for recording.
Do you have anything on mute in the delta control panel.
Do you have the sliders linked together.
Its been a while since I had an audiophile and I cant remember the panel that well anymore. Are you using the analog or sp/dif.

i'm using soundforge to do the recording and am using the analog in and outputs. i'm also muting all the spdif in and outputs. i think the problem lies with which which devices i choose in my windows sounds and audio properties. the only way anything will play is if i have multichannel selected for playback and then i can't control the volume in the monitor mixer.

Well, if I remember correctly, you should have the sliders in the control panel for the AP full throttle at all times and control your levels thru Soundforge. And for windows, control the lvls thru the audio mixer for windows.
Im assuming your not multitracking because I dont think SF does multitrack right ?

What is your input signal and how is it routed to the card? How are you listening to the output signal? The levels you are talking about should be controlled by outboard devices (ie a mixer, powered speakers etc.). The Monitor Mixer just plays back what it gets, it will adjust the relative levels (ie input vs output, SPDIF vs analog), but the overall "levels" are not controlled there.
