Hi,
Well I just installed my brand new M Audiophile 2496 pci card...and i`m so so so confused!
I alraedy had a standard soundcard in my computer and im not quite sure what the hell is going on with it?! The standard volume control has no effect on anything, and in "patch bay" part of the delta control panel, if i have it on the first setting.."wav out 1/2" sound comes through but i cannot ajust the volume in the "monitor mixer" section. but if i have it on "monitor mix" in the patch bay, i can control the levels with the "monitor mixer" part of the control panel!
Also, i`m running the audiophile stereo RCA out to my hi-fi amplifier to use as monitors for the time being and I wanted to have the sound from my old sound card going through my crappy pc speakers and the sound from the audiophile coming through my amp-hi-fi setup. You see, it`s so damn confusing! I don`t quite know whats going on! It all seems a little out of my control!
Please, even if you can`t help me with these specific problems, just give me some hints on proper setting up etc. I`m running Windows XP on a fast, new PC.
Thanks ever so much!
Take Care,
Alex

in your delta control panel....in your patchbay/router tab, have monitor mixer checked instead of waveout1/2, you can move the masterlevel or the waveout 1/2 on the monitor mixer tab and you can bring down volume that way. are you trying to run sound to both sound cards at the same time? i dont know what your trying to ask for the second one....

Well OK, you have a volume control on the hi-fi amp - use that.
Use Windows Control Panel and for Sounds select the old soundcard to handle playback, record and the GS softsynth for midi - the Speaker icon on the taskbar will give you volume control for that. Now you get normal Windows programs using the old system for games etc.

For your audio programs, select the Audiophile in their device settings and deselect the old soundcard.
Windows Media Player only uses the one selected in Control Panel so use a Media Player where you can select the playback device - Winamp, Nero Media Player etc.
Now your serious listening/recording uses the Audiophile.

I do this with an Audiophile and a Santa Cruz card. I can check how my mixes and Mp3s sound in pc speakers by using Windows Media Player and if I play a game, I still get EAX and stuff which the Audiophile doesn't support.

Wow, thankyou so so much for all that help. You are too kind.
I have done what you suggested with setting my old soundcard for games, windows sound etc. And I`ve gone into logic audio and selected the Audiophile as the primary soundcard.
It all seems to be working great! Thankyou very very much!
I`m sorry I sounded so chaotic last night!...it was about 2am and it was all driving me crazy! hehe.
Thankyou again my friend.
Take Care,.
Alex :)
