Hi All,

I have my Audiophile 2496 in...and it is nice... just a few problems:

I am using Cool Edit Pro to record...Mackie 1202VLZ tape out to audiophile in...it records well, but when playing back, it says "Playing as 16 bit..." but I recorded it at 32/96...

also, when I individual tracks, to play in quick time a few things happen (in the movie info) it says: 16 bit Little Endian, Mono, 30.646kHz, 16 bits...which is odd cause it recorded at 32...maybe I save it wrong (i just click yes, when exiting)...also when playing in quicktime, it sounds reeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllll slow but when the same wav is opened in cool edit pro, it plays fine

one last problem: when I play something I have recorded, coming out of my speakers (panasonic stereo) even with a peak of -12dB there is some distorting and crackling (maybe loose connection???)...

thanks for your help.

there is a setting in CEP to PLAYBACK AS 16-BIT .. just in case your card cant playback 24... unclick this. OPTIONS>SETTINGS>MULTITRACK.
It should, however, play at 32 regardless in the WAVEFORM VIES.. that is only in the multitrack veiw. When you open a track.. at the bottom does the info read 32bit?

The quicktime stuff sounds like QT is inerpreting the files as 16/30k... which explains why it is slow....instead of playing 96k samples in a second.. its playing 30k.. so it takes three seconds to play one second of audio. I dont know how to change QT's settings.. or if it even suports higher sampling rates....BUT if you need to use QT, you can convert the sample type in CEP under EDIT>CONVERT SAMPLE TYPE in the Waveform veiw.

the crackling sounds like hardware.

thanks a lot camn...it is in the single waveform view that it says playing back at 16 bit...
