after reading the basizillion reviews on this website, i notice that the most commonly talked about soundcard was the
AUDIOPHILE 24/96 and the DELTA 1010(LT). why all the hype? there are tons of sound cards out there on the market... If someone would be so kind... what is special about those 2. Is it the quality, the price, the brand, the reliablility, versatiliy, looks... is it an industry standard?
I guess the reason why i'm so curious about this is because i want to get a soundcard soon...
... I'm looking for some solid info

THANX EVERYONE!!!

Audiophile because its the cheapest prosumer card that gives you 24-bit/96khz capability.

Delta 1010 because it gives you the most I/Os for the lowest price, and also because it (the non LT) provides a sturdy breakout box that houses both the converters and connections outside of the electrically noisy environment of the computer.

Both are quality cards (or card/breakout box in the case of the 1010) with good support.

i'll second that.

I have a Delta 1010 in my studio, and it's completely bomb-proof!

The converters are good, the software is good, the support is second to none.

M-Audio technical support will advise you on the best motherboard and cpu's to buy, and what settings you can use to get minimum latency etc.

I sent an email to them when i was building my PC asking about the whole intel/AMD arguement, and if they could recommend any particular motherboards.

Within 2 hours I had my reply, it was polite, but not too kiss-arsey, and the advice was just at my technical level, not something that was copied and pasted (if you know what i mean)

The distributors in the UK are a good bunch of guys too, and are always happy to answer any questions - no matter how stupid they are.

By the way -- i'm not related, or do i work for them - before you start thinking it!!! :)

good luck.

I have the Delta 44 another popular option inbetween the 1010 and the audiophile and I must say it sounds amazing. Besides a few clicking and poping bugs with the drivers these cards are rock solid.

The 1010LT gets alot of hype because its so cheep. M-Audio pumped alot of features into a small package at a very low price.

The audiophile is a great card at a great price aswell. Not as much of a bargin as the 1010LT but its the best in its class.

I'm surprized no one is talking about the Hoontech anymore.

Hoontech. I might buy one just because it's such a cool name.
