if that sucka does that again, I am tossing it into the trash!

Here is what happened. I saved a preset volume setting, and it totally ignored my setting after rebooting. So I pulled the volume faders down before turning on my monitors. Everything was set, turned on my monitors, and BOOOOOOM!! I flew back, got back up as quick as I could, and ran to my monitors to shut them off at 2AM!!!

I never experienced this before because I have been controlling my volume with my outboard mixer. Now I have sold my mixer, I have to use the software mixer that came with Audiophile to control the volume. 2 things about Audiophile's mixer I have learned so far:
1) It makes this terrible clicking noice when running window stuff, not the regular mouse clicking noise, just random messed up noises. And it happens randomly, too.
2) Volume settings are annoying as hell, it sometimes does things on its own, and sometimes it can't be controlled well.

So, watch out if you use Audiophile's out's directly into your monitors.

You shouldn't have sold your mixer. It is never recommended to use software faders to your power amp. You lose a considerable amount of precision, and software is simply not reliable, as you just found out.

Always use an analog fader.

P.S. the reason the volume settings don't stick is that some software will control volume by changing the master fader of the soundcard's mixer. Your volume settings can be overwritten at any time.
