I've just bought an audiophile

err.. should I be recording at 44.1 Khz or 48 Khz.?

(I want to use it with an SBLive - for midi, if that makes any difference?)

No, actually because I read somewhere here (Sjoko2 maybe???)that the difference between 44.1 and 48 really isnt significant, so it isnt worth the damage that will be done when you eventually have to resample down to 44.1.....

got it.

Right, I really am going to bed now. Unless you've replied to my other post in record time and so it goes

bye

The eternal debate :)

This is a highly controversial issue but from what I've gathered, the extra samples you get at 48kHz actually DO make quite a difference IF you do a lot of digital processing to the sound, ie use a lot of plugins.
Those 10% extra samples per second you get at 48kHz give the plugins more samples to work with, which most of the time means that the plugins will sound better.

So if you're just recording into the pc to put it on cd without any fancy processing, record at 44.1kHz. If you wanna try and remix and play with plugins, I think you're better off at 48kHz.

Yes you are better off if you have the right software to sample down to 44.1....hopeful Sjoko will come in here and tell me what Im talking about....
