I installed the card and I'm using Sonar 2.0 at the moment...I can't seem to get it working in full duplex...using the M-Audio virtual patchbay thingie, I can get the sound of my instruments (plugged into it via a small eurorack mizer) to come through the speakers, but then I can't hear things coming off the computer (mp3s, computer sound, or previously recorded tracks for overdubbing). how do I get both of those coming through my speakers? (the speakers are plugged into the analog stereo RCA outs, and the mixer is plugged into the analog stereo RCA ins)

In your M Audio control panel, go to the Patchbay/Router tab and select Monitor Mixer

"the speakers are plugged into the analog stereo RCA outs, and the mixer is plugged into the analog stereo RCA ins"

Are you trying to drive the speakers with the analog outputs of the soundcard ?

okay, I put it on "monitor mix" and it wouldn't play anything from the computer, nothing in sonar that had been recorded, wouldn't play mp3s in winamp...when I said the speakers are hooked up to the RCA analog outs I mean I have self powered speakers that are hooked up to the stereo RCA analog outs...the card has a pair of stereo RCA ins, and stereo RCA outs...then it alternativly has digit SDIPF or whatever outs...I don't have digital equipment so I have my mixer plugged into the RCA ins and the speakers to the RCA outs....if I goto the virtual patchbay/router and put the H/Wout 1/2 on WavOut 1/2, it'll play everything normally, but I can't hear the inputs while recording, making overdubbing impossible...if I switch the patchbay/router to H/W in 1/2 I can hear the keyboard or whatever's plugged into the mixer while recording but can't hear whatever was recorded previously playing while I record, again making overdubbing impossible. what am I doing wrong?

In the Patchbay Router tab, the H/W Out 1/2 should be set to Monitor Mixer.

In the Monitor Mixer tab, make sure nothing's muted

ooooooh boy I'm an idiot...when I switched to monitor mix it put all the sliders down...so nothing was muted, but I just didn't realize that they were all turned all the way down.

Wait`ll you forget to plug up the speakers, and do driver reinstalls, call tech service, RTFM, and change out cables on the DAW. That is mega- embarassing.
