Audiophile 2496 connections

Sorry for the stupid newbie question. I want to get a decent soundcard for recording from an Audiobuddy preamp (1/4" outs) and various guitars and guitar modeling units (1/4" outs).

Can I use an Audiophile 2496? Its only analog imputs are RCA. Do I just go to Radio Shack and buy a 1/4" phono to RCA adapter?

The specs that I read at the M-Audio website indicate that the Audiophile has RCA ins as opposed to the 1/4" that I need. Specifically, it shows 2 coaxial S/PDIF ins and 2 Midi ins (which I failed to mention I need) on the breakout cable and 2 L and R RCA ins on the card.

The page from MF that you were nice enough to direct me to also indicates "analog RCA jacks." What am I missing?

Those RCA ins are line level so as long as the outs on your pre or guitar modeler or whatever else you want to plug in is line level you'll be fine with the adapters. The RadioShack stuffs kinda cheap but itll get you started for a few dollars. That way you can experiment - figure out exactly how YOU are gonna use it with your other stuff. Keep in mind tto that those are unbalanced connectors so keep your cable runs short. So long as you only need the two analog ins or you have an external a/d to use the s/pdif- for a total of 4 ins- the 2496 is a nice choice.
 
Thank you for your replies. I will only be recording one thing at a time, so the number of imputs available is fine. I'll get some kind of short cable with RCA on one end and 1/4" on the other unless anyone has another suggestion.
