Audiophile 2496 + Behringer MX602A

Hey people,

Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on setup for these two devices... At the moment I have the Audiophiles 2 x RCA in and 2 x RCA outs connected to the Behringers Tape In/Out, but when I unmute the Line In in the Audiophiles Control Panel I get output / input / output / input, everything at once, like a line loop. Obviously there must be a better way to get this going better. But I haven't played with it yet.
I use the Behringer to pre my Yamaha M-65 Poweramp, cause I don't have any other pre, so I don't really know what i'm going to do. One suggestion I gave myself was to in/out the Behringer the way it is now and buy a Preamp for the Audiophiles out direct to Poweramp, but thats a pile of money, is there a way to do it without this?
 
take a closer look ...

... into the manual of your audiophile - especially the built in mixer application might come in handy. there you can route different signals to different outputs and turn input monitoring on and off as you wish.

the mixer´s main outs should connect to the soundcard´s ins for maximum flexibility. for monitoring purposes take another look into your behringer´s manual and look for the possibility of getting a signal path from your soundcard´s out into the mixer and out to your power amp but not back into your mixer´s stereo sum in order to avoid a howlback - maybe like this: soundcard out -> mixer tape in (button 2tk to ctrl room engaged, button 2tk to mix disengaged) control room out -> power amp in ...!?!?

ya, pretty much what fretless said. Send the mains to the 24\96. Also it doesn't hurt to figure out the monitor mixer if you haven't already.
 
Tape out vs Mains out

I have a similar setup: Behringer MX802A tape-out to POS soundcard (on my replacement list). Should I use the main out instead? Pros and cons?
 
i just took a look at the wiring diagram of the mx802 on behringer´s site - the tape outs equal the main outs, so it shouldn´t matter which you take unless the main outs on jacks have better signal to noise ratio or whatever ...?!
