I just bought an Audio Technica MB3000L and haven't had much chance to play with it. I'm going to be using it purely as a vocal mic.

Just wondering if anyone else had tried these as I was going to splash out on a SM58 but got this for half the price.

I have two and I like them a lot on my voice, much prefer to and SM58, I like to get up close to the mic when playing live for a nice earth shaking proximity effect and the MB3000L handles it much better than an SM58. That said I prefer the sm58 on some other voices.

Worst thing about the mb3000L is that the nice rubbery vinyl paint basically rots and comes off after contact with a range of things like handcream, tape adhesive, etc. So mine are pretty ugly but still sound great.

I always see people turning their noses up at them because 'it has a switch', actually it's a hermetically sealed, gold plated reed switch

Gotta say after trying it, I'm finding it's really good, especially on the highs and mids.
