I feel that they are also a good value. However, the stereo separation that I get on overheads (although the sound is excellent) is sub-obtimal. They each pick-up a little too much of the kit. But, because I was so impressed with the "30" series, I picked-up two 3031s for overheads that I'm very happy with.
They are significantly less directional than their LDC brethren.
Pretty low on the AT food chain, if you like the 3035, you should try the 4033. If you got a good sound, however, keep up the good work. Says something for your recording skills.
I think it was easier to get what I wanted from the 4033, but the 3035 isn't bad by a long shot. Kind'a wish I had another one of each.
My inlaws got me the 3035 new for $167~ and I got a used 4033 special edition for $200, better "deal" would have to go to the 4033. But not by to much.
I just sold one of these after about a year and a half. Good mic and it depends what you record but not the best in the price range, although i've seen some good deals on ebay.
a friend of mine has been recording his kit using 2 4033s as overheads and it sounds amazing. he even used it on acoustic guitar and vocals for a quick demo of a song and it still sounded better than anything i'd ever recorded.
