Best mic I ever got for free. Got it in a package deal with my Firepod. Of course, I'm not saying it's my best mic, just the best free of my freebies.

It's a pretty nice mic for the price. I've used it with a SP C3 in figure-8 mode to do M-S on a guitar once. Pretty cool. Mainly, though, I've used it as a room mic behind me when playing cello.

awesome, thanks. :) i dont play the cello lol il probably be using it to record my voice, as im just recording the guitar straight into the soundcard :D

Don't forget that, being a condenser, it does require phantom power. (Being an electret, I'm surprised they didn't do a battery option on it, but they didn't....)

As far as phantom power goes you can make one for $10

Some folks have reported that the Audio Buddy's phantom power is under voltage (about 42v instead of 48v). I'm not sure how that would behave with this mic. Since it's an electret condenser, it will probably work fine, but if you have problems with the mic distorting even with the input gain on the Audio Buddy turned way down, that might be why.

My Audiobuddy only pushed out 33 Volts

But it was fine with the NT1 I used to use it with. Haven't tried it on any of the newer mics. I should give that a shot.

Yikes!

Apparently, M-Audio has a history of building flawed hardware with incorrect phantom power voltages. *sigh*

I bought 2 of the 2041 SP sets and liked the 2021's a lot for acoustic guitar. I have been using the 2020 for shakers, tambourine, cowbells, etc. I look at it as I bought the sets for the 2021's and got the 2020's free. Or was it the other way around? I say the 2020 is a decent mic. Great for the money!
