Audio Technica 813R

I was rooting around in my boxes of junk and found a mint Audio Technica 813R condensor mic. It is from around 1985 ( I think I remember buying it) The question is why? What is this mic good for? Does anyone have one ? The mic has never been opened. I guess I bought it and forgot about it.
 
Here's a radical idea.

Open the box.

Take the mic out of the box

Plug one end of an XLR into the mic and the other end into your desk/pre/soundcard

Now stick the mic in front of as many sources as you can lay your hands on and make some test recordings

Easy ;) :p

Sorry, I am a conservative guy. I would rather people TELL me than go through all the work of hooking it up and testing. Plus, my system is NOT XLR! My system is digital with an analog mixing console. If and when I can afford an XLR system, I will post my results here.
