Hi,

I'm trying to record from an audio tape to the computer (Win XP), and I've got as far as taking a lead from the line-out jack of the tape player to the mic-in jack of the laptop.

The only recorder that I can find on the machine is Windows Recorder, which I can't get to record more than a 60-second piece!!

Windows Media Player doesn't seem to cater for this kind of recording.... What software do I need, to be able to get a decent quality recording from the audio tape into the computer, so that I can transfer the recording on to a CD???

HELP!!!

Thanks in anticipation,
Andrew.

First of all, don't plug it into the mic in. You have to plug it into the line in. A line level source is stronger then a mic level source and will clip your preamp.

Download goldwave. It's free, and it's fairly full featured. It will do just what you want it to.

As already said, use the line in, NOT the mic in. I second the motion for downloading Audacity, it's a good program (recording/mixing software) If you don't like Audacity, another one you can get for free is Kristal.
