Is anyone successfully running this soundcard under NT4.0 with service pack 6?
Can someone help out here. I cannot get recording or encoding to function. Each time I click on record or encode, I get this message "RecSvr" "The specified device is already in use. Wait until is free, and try again." Or "another application is currently using the process". Something seems to be locking it up but I can't find the culprit.

System:
NT4.0 Service Pack 6,
SB Live! Value,
FIC-VA503+,
AMD k6-2 500
128MB RAM
ATI Rage Pro 8MB

Thanks

Your OS probably isnt the problem here. I used to have an SBLive Value and I ended up throwing it in the bin after the compatibility issues it had with my K6-2. People tell me these cards run a lot better on Intel-based machines because of thier superior floating point stats. I'd suggest either a different sound card or if you have the cash, move to an Intel system.
I decided to buy a different sound card for the moment ( just a cheapie!) Until I can afford to change to either an Athlon or PIII board and then I am investing in possibly the Digi001.

Ok everyone... we just had this amd vs intel discussion so dont even think about it, ok?!!

By the way, welcome to the board, goldstar and scoon.

Well, if I switch to Win98se on the same computer it works OK. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. I just re-installed my Ensonic AudioPCI 32 Card which has been working flawlessly prior to getting SB Live! Value.

hmmmmm. Have you tried WindowsME? I havnt used it myself but I've been told by several people that driver support is rock solid so maybe try giving that a go. The SBlive Value! was probably the most trying piece of hardware I have ever owned. Friends who have used the SBlive 1024 have told me it is a lot nicer to your system than the Value!.
