Audio output for Cakewalk Sonar

My audio output for Cakewalk Sonar 8 Producer Edition is not working. I've spent hours looking on how to fix this problem and the only reasonable thing i can think of is my lack of a real sound card. Does anyone else have any ideas on what my issue really is?

What kind of computer? What kind of sound card? Can you record? Can you mix down to wav? Is it shown in the Audio Driver section? Did you use the sound card profiler ?
