alright so i'm using iMac with Logic Pro 8, got a cheaper mic but will be using soon MXL 4000, so i need a better audio device. I got the M-Audio FastTrack Pro right now. I'm looking for better pres, and better converters. I guess i just don't like the sound quality i get. My boy has got a set up with his MXL 4000 using an MV and a nice zero latency mixer, sorry, don't know exactly which one, it's Edirol, but the recordings i get on it are very nice. I've looked heavily into the Apogee Duet, the functionality with Logic is great and I hear the converters are exceptional, but I am a bit concerned with the monitoring. See, the problem, aside from overall quality is that with the FastTrack Pro, i can't seem to get my levels good while monitoring my input over recording. Either the levels are too loud to record, or i can't hear myself. I can compensate, but maybe could do with better preamps. Not sure if the Duet has the direct monitoring features the FastTrack Pro has. I don't need inserts. I don't need S/PDIF, I don't need Sends or nothing and I need at most 2 inputs. Just headphone and separate levels for my main outs/stduio monitors. sorry the long post, ummm, help please
