Hello all,

I'm having audio dropouts with my new computer for the last two months and can't figure out why

here is my computer

Case - Antec Sonata Black Piano
MB: GigaByte 8IPE1000 Pro (replaced from Asus P4P800)
CPU: P4 2.4
VGA: Matrox G550 (replaced from Asus 8197)
MEM: 2x256 Kingston memory (works in dual ddr)
HD: Maxtor HD 7200 40Gb
SC: Echo MiaMidi

WinXP Home. Cubase SX, Halion (all legit)

well, as you can see I already tried to replace MB, VGA and also
all the cable inside the computer

I ran Memtest, was fine

the problem accured randomally I see audio dropouts
and also when I minimize cubase I get a dropout

if I ran with a regular sound card (like the on-board one)
I get no dropouts, but its on 46ms latency

the test project is 3 audio, 2 midi, no effects

please,
any advices will be welcome

thanx

maybe the latency you are running on your Echo card is too low? Have you tried adjusting the buffer sizes etc. with that - are you using ASIO?

Maybe try finding a better medium with the latency...what is the card supposed to be capable of?

Teh drop out from minimizing the audio app sounds like it's related to the buffer in the application itself, not the cards IO buffer. I don't know cubase, but this should be configurable somewhere. If you set this real low by mistake thinking it was the hardware buffer it would explain your problem.

It happence also with a 7ms latency which should be ok
for a computer like that

running only 3 audio tracks no effects

don't know

Just for everyone to know how I solved it

first I installed the microsoft drivers for the matrox g550
which works way better with audio

second, it appears that I had issues with the mia card's driver
and my system, so I replaced it with the audiophile card and
everything seems to fine for now

:)

well.. fellow echo user here..

sounds like it might be a clock problem. Might try setting your card clock to internal (in the echo console) and seting your software to channel 1/2 out....

I had a similar problem once and that cured it for me.

Good luck:)

It was on internal as you said it

it wasn't it,
it was a two month problem
