audio changed to midi

Weirdest thing. Every song I have in Cakewalk, including every audio track I've recorded, now says it's a midi track and when I go to try and change the track properties back, there is no option for doing so, and it only gives me the midi sources in the dropdown list, no audio... even for a new track. Does anyone know what I can do about this... been working on it for hours and have been having absolutely no luck.

The only thinkg I can imagine is that you changed the file type to one of the MIDI-only formats rather than the usual Cakewalk Project format.

o.k i'm brand new at all this and stumbled through getting it set up. i had some help about 6 months ago from a guy setting up audio tracks to record vocals and acoustic guitar. now i'm up a creek without a boat. i've got some song tracks highlighted in yellow and can't get out of midi drop down options. so what do i do now? i can't do anything and its all frustrating. how do i change the file type?

I've had this happen to me. I think it has something to do with the soundcard. I.e., if I've dinked around with the soundcard settings and then fire up CW, the audio tracks appear as midi tracks. It's like CW thinks midi is the only capability at its disposal. Check your audio options in CW to see if the soundcard is still listed. Rebooting usually cures it for me.

i've been through every thing i can click on trying to get an audio option to drop down so i can choose it. i can't get the window that shows my soundcard to even show up. i pulling my hair out doing the same things over and over. if i try and start a new file with fresh tracks, when i right click on a track and go to track properties, at the top of the box where source is all it shows is midi stuff. where do i go to find out about my sound card? re-booting does nothing

Look under Audio, Drivers (I think) to see if your soundcard channels are still listed.

the drivers weren't enabled. now i'm trying to change them to asio4all 2.7 but i can't get them to show up in the drop down tab. i downloaded them to the computer but i'm stuck. i heard these drivers were better.
