Audio Cables

I just bought a bunch of cables for recording. I was wondering which ones would be best for me to record with???
 
Only use the red ones for recording, and black for playing back. And make sure you don't try to plug a doohicky into a thingamabob!! :eek:
 
Actually, I've heard the woven cloth ones have far less resistance than red ones and are much better for recording.

reason being is your post gives us aboslutely no information. It's like asking on a forum "I bought a car, is it a good car?"
We have absolutely no idea what car you bought, if you need a pickup to haul a trailer or a car to get good gas mileage, if the car was a Mazda or Toyota, what model it was, if you have kids you need to haul around in it, etc.

Same thing with the cables. You asked "I bought these cables, are they good?"
We have absolutely no idea what cables you are talking about and what you need to use them for to connect to.
 
You need the red ones to record with, unless you are recording in digital; then you need the ones that are slightly darker red. That is if they have the small doohickeys on the ends. If they are the kind of cables that have the larger, triple-widget doohickey on the shorter end of the cable and the regular thingy on the longer end, then go with the maroon type of cable for recording.

Of course, for playback this is all reversed, but you probably knew that.

But if you're mixing or remixing, then you need to run black cables with blue coating from your post-amp to the expressor. Unless you're using an optical expressor, in which case the black cables with the clear coating are best.

If this all gets a bit too confusing, just use Monster brand 22-gauge unbalanced 3-conductor zip cord; that works for just about everything except microphones, preamps, mixers, and recorders. For those you want to use the old-style tube versions of those cables to get that trans-phat sound.

Only if you are using the blue cables with the black coating instead of the black cables with the black coating. Then you need to make sure you ground your CDs...

Don't worry Benny; it took me a long time to figure it all out too. Though I still haven't figured out if my lightpipe should be brass or PVC :confused: .

Just to give another opinion, I prefer to use the cables that are connected to my gear. The ones just lying around on the floor don't seem to work as well.

I'm almost ready to record now.

I just need to know if anyone has any tips on how to sing? I want my voice to sound like a mix between Lionel Ritchie and Peter Cetera.

Well at least we learned one thing from this thread. Walters's last name is "Praze". This is his nephew, Johnny.
 
Due to the inherent capacitance, resistance, and issues like skin effect it's actually much cleaner if you record without cables entirely. Totally distortion free audiophile recording. And it saves you money!
