Audio Buddy to soundcard

Rzzzzz!
I must be doing something wrong.

I'm trying to hook up my audiobuddy to the line input of my Turtle Beach Montego card.

The montego has a stereo line input (standard 1/8").

How do I send both channels from my audio buddy (balanced 1/4" outputs) to this 1/8" input?

I must have bought the wrong adapter because I can only get one channel to record.

What cables or adapters am I supposed to use?

Thanks,
Carl

Your Y adapter needs to accept 2 mono inputs and a single stereo output

What you're telling me is that there's something wrong. That's what I'm already using.

Are you sure that your 1/8" (35mm) male plug is stereo???

That's what it's supposed to be. It has the double tip and everything, but most importantly, the package specified a stereo jack.

In to what program are you recording ?

Have you checked the properties in both soundcards Control Panel?

I think that my problem may be that I am using 1/4" male phono to RCA jack cables.

The adapter that I found (all that radio shack had that would come close) was two RCA inputs to a single 1/8" stereo male jack.

The card has a stereo line input, my control settings are ready for stereo and when I record it arms two tracks.

The thing is only one track has any audio after the take.

I tried my hardest to find something with either quarter inch inputs, eighth inch inputs. a Y cable with quarter inch male ends converging into a single 1/8" male plug.

Just about every combination under the sun that wouldn't employ more than 3 adapters.

I even considered rolling my own, but radio shack didn't have anything with a 1/8" plug that could support a pair of quarter inch wires.

When in doubt, search Hosa's website.

I found this:

Hosa Cable

Looks like this is what I need and will buy.

However, I wonder if I wouldn't be better off with this:

XLR version

Opinions?

Looks like I'm just talking to myself here, but since I can't sleep anyway...

I went to GC and picked up the proper cable to connect my Audio Buddy to my soundcard.

Guess what, no difference.

It's not the Audio Buddy's fault. I connected the soundcard directly to the stereo outs on my keyboard and the problem persists.

The left channel records but the right does nothing.

I'm going to try to reseat the card tomorrow, hoping that this will fix it.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to resign myself to having bought a defective card on eBay and I've already left positive feedback for the seller.

I think my sound card is defective.

The mic input works good (a lot better than I would expect), but the line in is not working properly at all.

I'd settle for the mic input, but I want to record straight to 2 and the mic input is strictly mono.

Since the card also features S/Pdif inputs (both coaxial and optical) I've bought a Fostex VM04 board for $80.

It will convert my signal and give me some DSP effects to boot.

I hope the digital I/O's aren't fucked as well.

However, if they are, I'll just pick up another Montego II from ebay WITHOUT the DIO board. That should run me less than $10.

Don't think you're being rude if you interrupt my little conversation with myself here. :p
