alrighty, so I bought an audigy 2 off my friend to use on my desktop for games and such. my monitors are unpowered, and at the moment I'm going to power them with a home theater reciever. The problem I ran into is that the digital connection on the soundcard is spdif 1/8th, and the digital connection on the reciever is spdif coaxial RCA.

Is there an adapter that would work that would carry the digital signal?

I've seen a 1/8th to rca adapter but it didnt' say anything about digital...I don't know they are only a few bucks, if I bought one and tried it and it wasn't the right one could it damage anything?

I think you might be confused. I've never seen a digital connector on an 1/8" jack. You should have an SPDIF RCA connector on that audigy.

Audigy's have internal 5.1 decoders and cannot be connected to 5.1 receivers. To truly use it in a surround setup, you need to buy the 6 speaker kits you see at Best Buy in the computer dept.
