I bought myself a cheap turntable (Numark TT 1600 MKII) to start sampling from records instead of cd's and I have a few simple questions. The only mixer I have is a little Behringer Eurorack MX 602A. Is it possible to hook the turntable up to this or did I just buy a piece of equipment that I won't be able to use? I also just bought an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile Interface which I'll probably have some questions on later that I'll post in the correct forum. Any help is appreciated.

I haven't bought any new equipment in ages, so all this is new to me right now. Also, if I can, in fact use this device with my current mixer, where do I secure the ground wire?

Thanks in advance,

Springfield

Nah, the Behri has mic pres, you need a phono pre. This is only one I’ve heard of, but I’m sure there are others.

Older home receivers/amps will usually have one and so will a lot of DJ mixers.

Most phono preamps and anything with a preamp in it will usually have a grounding screw. Honestly though, my table isn’t grounded, never has been. I had a problem with buzz at first, but I just moved it and no problems since.

Thanks for the info. I'll hit up the music store something this week and see what I can find also. I'll let you know what I come up with.

That's interesting about you not grounding yours and have no problems. That would probably happen to me because I run into very little recording problems compared to most people I hear about. I'll try to find one with a grounding screw anyway just to be safe.

Well, I went to the music store and the guy there told me that the mixer I have will work just fine if I use the mic pre's, and gave me 2 RCA to 1/4" angled plug adaptors. So I went home and.... it worked. And I didn't ground it and there's no problem. I raided my dad's record collection over Christmas, so hopefully soon enough I can post something new once my internet's not draggin' too slow.

Thanks for the response though.

Sorry about the bad info, but glad you got it working. Happy digging.
